Okay, here’s how it went down

We were out in Michigan surrounded by friends, fire and wine, three of my very favorite elements in life. I wandered into the kitchen in search of more food, and Jeff wandered in after me. He asked for a hug, and then asked if it could last forever. Of course I said, “Sure, honey! It’ll last forever!” And then I decided I would get a little more of that awesome steak.

As I poked around for a plate, Jeff said, “I have to ask you a question.” I said “Sure, honey!” as I looked for knife and fork. Then he says “Will you marry me?”

Wow. Clearly a marriage proposal trumps food (not much does, but a potential husband?). After he asked me to marry him, I whip around, and there he is holding the ring. I bury my head in his shoulder and wrap my arms around him. I had expected that he would propose at some point, but had zero idea it would happen then.

“Ohmygodohmygodohmygod” was racing through my head and I suppose I’d somehow neglected to answer him. So as he held me he asked again, “Well?”

“Okay,” I said.

And his laugh at that response, I tell you, the warmth, the happiness, the love…just the thought of it makes me tear up. I am so lucky to be marrying this man!!
